I became friends with Darkness in Hong Kong, shortly prior to the implementation of the destructive National Security Law in July 2020. In addition to her unique physical appearance, she exhibited a strong persona and always dared to speak her mind, which was what made her noticeable in the beginning. Over time with more interactions, it was evident that her love for Hong Kong was unfathomable and profound. This can be felt by her username “AshNorDust”, reflecting her will to even sacrifice herself in pursuit of democracy, and what is just and right. In my impression, Darkness is a passionate and determined athlete in Hong Kong’s social movement who refuses to surrender. And even though she has her own struggles and limitations, I appreciate how she continues to shine with bravery and energy under Hong Kong’s tumultuous environment. I wish her all the best of luck and to take good care of herself until we bring glory back to Hong Kong!
